I am
I have worked as a front-end designer | developer for 15 years. I specialize in UX | UI creation for websites — with particular experience in Technology and Arts oriented sites. In my previous full-time position I worked for MIT | Lincoln Laboratory, a Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC). I was an employee for eight years as a member of the group (TII) responisble for building assets for the Labs' Intranet (all Research Divisions and Support Departments) and the many Conference sites hosted by the Research Divisions.
Prior to my MIT position, I worked for Partners Healthcare, one of the companies assisting in the creation of the Epic Medical Database —
now used by most of the top hospitals in the United States. My role was in creating a Proof-of-Concept (POC) for the then in process Epic Database Pharmacuetical section.
I am interested in working on projects as a Freelancer. I am especially excited to work on sites which focus on Technology or the Arts.
∗ Details on Education and Certifications given in the Resume Section below.
The charts below give a general sense of my skill set in some essentials of Web Design & Development. Below the Charts I have listed some of the many ancillary skills I have aquired useful knowledge of in my 30 years of working in Graphic Design, UX Design & Web Development
For the last 30 years I have been active as a visual designer. Starting 2003, my focus as a designer moved from print to the internet. In 2006 I received a Certificate in Interactive Design from Boston University's College of Communications. Since then my attention has moved toward understanding the technical processes behind creating successful web assets (development) and the theory and practice of User Centered Design (UX).
I am very conversant with the process of creating intelligent, user focused, online experiences. This process includes: multi-faceted end-user research, creation of an initial set of wireframes establishing User Interface, User Experience and Site Architecture, hand-coding prototypes using CSS3, HTML5 and JavaScript Libraries, working with testers to modify, extend and enhance online user environments.
Boston University, College of Communications
Courses in HMTL, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, UX and Information Architecture
Massachusetts College of Art
Courses in Design Concepts, Typography, Illustration, Color Theory, Color Management, Page Layout, Portfolio
Brandeis University, Waltham, MA
Continuing my work as an undergraduate, I used historical and archaeological data to understand the development of a new cultural identity. I used an anthropological approach to see a new identity as a confluence of the practices of the original cultures from which they emerged — and the circumstances surrounding their meeting.

I was initially employed at the Lab as a consultant to maintain, develop, and enhance laboratory websites — primarily the laboratory-wide Intranet and the Conference websites created to support laboratory affiliated scientific conferences. I was a member of the Technology Innovation and Integration (TII) team. After working as a consultant for a year, I was hired full-time to be on the TII team. I worked as team lead for a project to design and develop a user-facing ITIL based ITaaS Service Catalog.
The TII team was responsible for oversight of all of the Lab's Intranet sites, including the homepage, on a rotating basis — once every four weeks. In a larger, six person group, we were responsible for building and maintaining the Lab's Conference Websites (built using Drupal). Below are lists of the Service Departments, Research Groups and Conference sites I was involved in the construction and maintinance of.
After I became a full-time employee, my team's mission was redirected toward a complete overhaul of both the Intranet and the Conference websites.
I was Lead Design | Developer on these Lab Intranet sites
I was Lead Design | Developer for sections of
Partners Healthcare, Applications Development
I was employed as a consultant to establish the user interface/initial user experience for a system-wide Partners Healthcare clinical data portal. My role was to construct a wireframe for storing and retrieving pharmaceutical information for hospital personnel in clinical settings.
Because my work at Lincoln Laboratory was centered on the Lab's Intranet, none of the sites I worked in that context are viewable to the public. I have provided links to four sites that I am able to show. Two I created after my work at the Lab and two are rare Lab related sites that are publicly available. I have also included some of the logos I created before working for the Lab. None of the logo images I created for the Lab are viewable.
