About

I have worked as a front-end designer | developer for 15 years. I specialize in UX | UI creation for websites — with particular experience in Technology and Arts oriented sites. My role was in creating a Proof-of-Concept (POC) for the then in process Epic Database Pharmacuetical section.

Professional Experience

MIT | Lincoln Laboratory, UX Developer

2013 — 2021

I was initially employed at the Lab as a consultant to maintain, develop, and enhance laboratory websites — primarily the laboratory-wide Intranet and the Conference websites created to support laboratory affiliated scientific conferences. I was a member of the Technology Innovation and Integration (TII) team. After working as a consultant for a year, I was hired full-time to be on the TII team. I worked as team lead for a project to design and develop a user-facing ITIL based ITaaS Service Catalog.

The TII team was responsible for oversight of all of the Lab's Intranet sites, including the homepage, on a rotating basis — once every four weeks. In a larger, six person group, we were responsible for building and maintaining the Lab's Conference Websites (built using Drupal). Below are lists of the Service Departments, Research Groups and Conference sites I was involved in the construction and maintinance of.

Senior UI, UX Designer for Clinical Data Portal Project

2012 - 2013

Partners Healthcare, Applications Development

I was employed as a consultant to establish the user interface/initial user experience for a system-wide Partners Healthcare clinical data portal. My role was to construct a wireframe for storing and retrieving pharmaceutical information for hospital personnel in clinical settings.

  • I collaborated with clinicians and hospital management to create use cases, storyboards, personas, scenarios, and work flows for the portal from existing requirements. I worked with these partners to design and develop this original wireframe interface into a multi-tiered search engine based portal environment.
  • I created the visual design vocabulary for the portal using CSS3 and web compatible images to produce a consistent, easy to use and strongly branded user interface.
  • I researched, edited and deployed a variety of JavaScript Library interface elements throughout the site — creating an intuitive, efficient, comfortable environment for users. I specifically used menus, breadcrumbs, buttons etc. to establish a clean, user-oriented navigation system. I introduced features such as tabs, toggles and accordions to make important information easily accessible while maintaining a well-organized and uncluttered workspace. I collaborated with backend developers to implement UI and UX features into the backend of the site.

Portfolio

Because my work at Lincoln Laboratory was centered on the Lab's Intranet, none of the sites I worked in that context are viewable to the public. I have provided links to four sites that I am able to show. Two I created after my work at the Lab and two are rare Lab related sites that are publicly available. I have also included some of the logos I created before working for the Lab. None of the logo images I created for the Lab are viewable.
